Reality Bites.

"Whatever happened to chivalry? Does it only exist in 80's movies? I want John Cusack holding a boombox outside my window. I wanna ride off on a lawnmower with Patrick Dempsey. I want Jake from Sixteen Candles waiting outside the church for me. I want Judd Nelson thrusting his fist into the air because he knows he got me. Just once I want my life to be like an 80's movie, preferably one with a really awesome musical number for no apparent reason. But no, no, John Hughes did not direct my life."- Olive Penderghast

*I think all of us girls that grew up watching these 80's flicks struggle with the true words of Ms. Penderfhast (From the movie "Easy A") sometimes the reality of 2011 and love just keeps us holding on to these movies. I refuse to let go of my VHS tapes, and my false hopes.

  4. Young men are too selfish to do that, except in movies. They don't yet know the meaning of real romance. Only a mature man goes to the trouble to write a witty and romantic saying on each and every one of the cards in a pack of 3x5's and take time to hide them everywhere in your apartment, so you'll be finding them and smiling for weeks to come, knowing he really loves you and made a special effort to prove it. Only a mature man will write you songs and poems and describe you in words that are so hard to find, because everything seems to lack the power to portray what you mean to him--yet he keeps trying. And only a mature man will tell you when you need to think better of yourself or need to tone it down some--he'll tell you the truth because he loves you, not himself or what he can get from you.
